Gate Latch / Parighasana
Previous / Kneeling Gallery / Next
Parigha=“a bar for latching a gate.” Begin in Trishna. Extend one leg out to the side, keeping the other thigh vertical. Clasp palms and skypoint. Then lean sidewise over the straight leg, using its sameside hand (on thigh, shin, ankle or floor) to support your bending torso. Raise the otherside hand over and past the bent torso. Then turn and place both hands on the extended ankle.
Progression
Variation 1
Bring your head down to the shin.
Variation 2
From the same leg position, bend far backward instead of sidewise, and support your body on your arms.
Variation 3
