Begin in Dandasana. As in Marichyasana A, draw up your left knee, sole to floor, heel to your perineum, keeping your right leg straight out before you. Now twist your torso to the left and face the rear, placing your right armpit over your left knee. Reach your right arm back around your left knee and your left arm around your back, and join hands: Marichyasana C. Return to Danda, switch legs, and repeat.

Variation 1

Repeat, but with your right leg folded back on the floor, heel to your perineum, in half-butterfly: Marichyasana D1. Return to Danda, switch legs, and repeat.

Variation 2

Repeat, but with right leg folded back kneeling, heel outside butt: Marichyasana F. Return to Danda, switch legs, and repeat.
