Previous / Sitting Gallery / Next

Go="cow"+mukha="face." Begin in Dandasana. Bend your knees and place one leg atop the other, its knee over the opposite ankle, its ankle over the opposite knee (agnistambhasana, "firelog pose": agni="fire"+ stambha="post"). Bend both knees further, sliding the heels of both legs back beside the opposite hip, and stacking one knee atop the other. Raise the sameside arm of the bottom leg straight up, palm back; bend this arm back behind its shoulder. Hold the other arm out to the side, palm facing back and up; bring its forearm behind your back and work the hand up as high as possible. Grasp hands or fingers.

Variation 1

Bend forward and down toward the knee (namagomukha, "folded cowface").
