Ardha="half"+padma="a lotus". Begin in Dandasana. Draw back one foot, grasp it in both hands, and place it atop the opposite thigh, sole upward, heel brought in close to the belly.

PART 1: Bend forward 45º, palms grounded.

Variation 2

PART 2: Full forward bend; namardhapadma, folded half lotus.
